Dave Cordone, Fulton City School District Board of Education president, shows off his Central New York School Boards Association Board Member of Achievement plaque.
FULTON – Fulton City School District Board of Education President David Cordone was recently honored with the designation of the Central New York School Boards Association Board Member of Achievement award for the 2016-17 school year.

Cordone, who also is a member of the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation Board of Education, received a plaque during the CNYSBA annual meeting in Skaneateles last month.
He has fought hard for education within the Fulton City School District, as well as throughout Oswego County and the nation.
According to the CNYSBA, the special designation is “the most significant form of recognizing outstanding service by a school board member.”
Specific criteria for the honor included: a current member of CNYSBA, actively attends events sponsored by the home Board of Education, has completed the NYS required Governance and Fiscal Oversight Training, has been a key player in helping the home district progress, helped BOE peers become better BOE members, continued to seek professional development and played a key role in developing community relations.
Cordone said he was thrilled to receive the designation and looks forward to his fifth term on the FCSD Board of Education, of which he was reelected to in May.
As a CNYSBA Board Member of Achievement, Cordone now joins the ranks of past Oswego County recipients, including incoming FCSD BOE member Robbin Griffin, who previously served on the board for a number of years.
Other past Fulton recipients also include Peter Nowjy and Jean Wise.
