Today the four New York State Assembly members who represent Oswego County endorsed David Renzi as the 48th Senate District Candidate for the November 08 election. Assemblyman Will Barclay (R,C,I-Pulaski), Assemblywoman Dedee Scozzafava (R,C-Govenour), Assemblyman David Townsend (R,C,I,WF-Sylvan Beach) and Assemblyman Bob Oaks (R,C-Macedon) pledged their support to Renzi, a Watertown-based lawyer, former district attorney and chief public defender in Jefferson County.
“I’m pleased to endorse Dave. I think he’s a smart, savvy businessman who understands the many serious economic issues our local region is experiencing. I think he’ll represent the 48th Senate District well. He’s a true community leader and is not afraid to speak his mind and is not beholden to downstate interests,” said Barclay, who represents parts of Oswego and Onondaga counties in the Assembly.
“I feel very confident in lending my support to David Renzi as our next State Senator. He has committed to the issues that face the unique needs of every region of the 48th District, including with a mind toward being fair to the sportsman of the region to advancing the economy to bring more jobs to the region,” said Oaks, who represents parts of Oswego, Cayuga and Wayne counties in the Assembly.
“David Renzi is a hard-working, civic-minded individual who will forcefully bring the issues of this area to the state capitol. He will make our collective voices heard in the Senate, and hopefully, by electing Renzi, Republicans can keep control of the Senate in a time when both the executive and the State Assembly are controlled by Democrats,” said Scozzafava, who represents parts of Lewis, Oswego, St. Lawrence and Jefferson counties in the Assembly.
“Whether it’s the veterans of this region or our youth who need a quality education, Renzi is our choice. His experience as a businessman and his experience within the justice system make him a knowledgeable and first-rate candidate to lead us in the Senate,” said Townsend, who represents parts of Oneida and Oswego counties.
Renzi said he is thrilled to have the support of all of the Assembly members. “This endorsement means a great deal to me and to my campaign. I plan to run a positive, upbeat campaign and this endorsement gives me a good deal of confidence going forward in my goal to unseat the incumbent this fall,” said Renzi.
