Firefighters battle a blaze on Erie Street in Fulton shortly before 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

FULTON, NY – Fulton Fire Department’s “D” Crew units had a working residential fire on Erie Street Wednesday night.

The call came in at approximately 5:25 p.m.
On arrival units reported heavy fire venting from the upper floor of the structure.
Units made their way to the second floor where they encountered heavy smoke, zero visibility and intense heat.
An initial report of trapped occupants turned out to be false, according to the FFD.
The residence was reportedly occupied when the fire started, but everyone made it out of the house.
The fire was brought under control within a half hour and many occupants were displaced.
A recall of all shifts was done as well as assistance from Cody VFD, Volney VFD AND Granby Center VFD.
The county fire coordinator and a portable cascade truck also assisted.
There are no reports of injuries at this time.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
