Fulton Amid Knights of Columbus Week 2017

FULTON, NY – As the Saint Joseph’s Council No. 254, Knights of Columbus of Fulton, New York celebrate its 120th anniversary and the Saint Joseph’s Assembly No. 748, Knights of Columbus of Fulton, New York celebrate its 107th anniversary, city officials have declared October 9-15, 2017 as Knights of Columbus Week.

A proclamation detailed, “the purpose of the Knights of Columbus is to strengthen the faith among its members, promote fraternity among them and provide financial security for widows and children of the members; the order supports three ideals; Charity, Unity, and Fraternity.”

Knights of Columbus boasts 1.9 million members in 15,100 councils within 17 countries.

The proclamation continues to detail the purpose of the 4th Degree, “to promote patriotism through personal development and continued honor of brother knights and, whereas, the 4th Degree Color Corps. presents a visible reminder of our service to the community.”

Such service is noted by having exemplified the ideals of the Order in such ways as assisting many local organizations in charitable work and making several financial contributions annually to local, regional community, and national service programs.

In the interest of recognizing and paying tribute to the Knights of Columbus organization who has “faithfully served the welfare of the citizens of the City of Fulton,” Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. congratulated the Saint Joseph’s Council, No. 254 and the Saint Joseph’s Assembly No. 748, Knights of Columbus, for its 120th and 107th year of service and officially declared the week of October 9-15, 2017 as Knights of Columbus Week in the city of Fulton.
