As part of the “It’s Cool 2B in School” attendance awareness campaign, nearly 2,000 students in the Fulton City School District, along with their parents and guardians, signed a pledge at the beginning of this school year to attend school, be on time and ready to learn.
Establishing and maintaining exemplary attendance habits is an area of focus across the school district. Good attendance habits are recognized as an important part of meeting the district wide PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) expectations to be respectful, responsible and safe students and members of the community.
Students who signed the attendance pledge and maintained an attendance rate of 90% or better during the first quarter were eligible to enter a drawing for a $100 Walmart gift card.
One winner was selected from each of the district’s six schools: Heidi Neider (G. Ray Bodley High School); Megan Waite (Fulton Junior High School); Victoria Wolfe (Fairgrieve Elementary School); Jesse Battoe (Granby Elementary School); Tehya Spencer (Lanigan Elementary School) and Alicia Merritt (Volney Elementary School).
Students who continue to maintain attendance rates of 90% or better and have signed the attendance pledge will be eligible to enter additional drawings held throughout the school year.
