FULTON, NY – Fulton Fire Department responded to a fire yesterday (May 19) around 7:30 p.m. on State Street in the city of Fulton.
According to the American Red Cross, immediate emergency assistance is being provided to nine residents of the home composed of six adults and three children.
Fulton Fire Department reported that the two-story wood frame house had “heavy fire venting from the front of the building on arrival,” according to the department’s Facebook post.
The “well-advanced fire” was brought under control within 20 minutes leaving heavy fire and smoke damage through both stories of the building, the post continued.
The cause of the fire is under investigation with no injuries reported to occupants of the home or responding firefighters.
The Red Cross will continue to provide assistance to the displaced individuals typically composed of vouchers for temporary housing, food and clothing as needed, and Disaster Mental Health volunteers available to help with the emotional aspect of disaster.
Red Cross confirms “caseworkers will be available in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan.”
