Fulton Man Arrested In Child Abuse Case

FULTON – On March 16, 2023, the City of Fulton Police were contacted by Child Protective Services regarding an incident in which a father struck their 8-year-old child with an object resulting in injury to the juvenile’s face.

An investigation began in which multiple interviews were done, one of which was with the suspect who admitted to throwing the object at his son.

It was also learned through investigation that at the time of the incident the suspect was in violation of a court mandated stay away order of protection with a separate victim.  As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested on 03/16/23. He is identified as:

Shawn M. Bonner, 42 years old, of Fulton

Charges:

1 count of Assault 2nd Degree-Class D Felony

1 count of Aggravated Family-Class E Felony

1 count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree- Class D Felony

1 count of Criminal Contempt in the 2nd Degree- Class A Misdemeanor

1 count Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree- Class A Misdemeanor                         

1 Count Endangering the Welfare of a Child- Class A Misdemeanor

Bonner was transported to the Oswego County Jail and later arraigned on 03/17/2023 in Fulton City Court by Judge Hawthorne.  The Oswego County District Attorney’s office recommended $2,500 cash bail and $5,000 Bail Bond. Bonner was Released on his Own Recognizance by Judge Hawthorne.
