FULTON, NY – Early Saturday (May 30), at approximately 1:20 a.m., residents were awakened when their home at 2051 County Route 176 was struck by a Chevy Silverado.
“The vehicle stopped literally within seven feet of my stepfather who was sleeping on the couch in the living room,” said Jeremick Dunham, former resident of the house.
The house is now occupied by his mother, stepfather and sister.
“My sister was bowling, she lives in the room above the entrance point of the vehicle, and my mother was sleeping in the room furthest from the entrance point in the second story of the house,” he added.
23-year-old Cody Davis was operating the vehicle when he struck the home, according to police.
According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Department: “On 5/30,15 at 2:04 a.m., Cody M. Davis, 23, of 2620 County Route 176, Fulton, NY, was arrested for DWI 1st, Reckless Driving, Speeding, Crossing Road Hazard Markings, Reckless Endangerment 1st and 2nd and Failure to Keep Right. Mr. Davis was remanded to the Oswego County Jail and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Volney Court for further proceedings.”
Dunham explained that the driver began walking away, unaware of whether he was trying to flee or confused from the wreck.
Davis was then transported to Oswego Hospital where he was arrested immediately after being released.
Despite the immediate outpouring of help from friends, family and strangers alike, the damage to the house was still immense.
“People passing by and friends and family immediately showed up on scene with cases of water and boxes, and helping hands. One lady even brought a gift card to Burger King. My mother didn’t even really know half of the people that stopped by to help. And, that was before anything went out on social media,” said Dunham.
“Bellinger’s towed the truck out, and an engineer red flagged the house due to structural damage,” he added. “The wall that he entered through had a cast iron wood stove on the interior of the wall. You can see a piece of the stove pipe sticking out of the ceiling. The woodstove ended up through the house and through the next wall by the front door. Priceless green Depression glass, holy water from my mother’s mother’s funeral, antiques, every cupboard in the kitchen, every structural post was destroyed. Fine china was destroyed, a 20 person set,” Dunham said.
Besides the sentimental belongings destroyed in the accident, Dunham and his stepfather had completely remodeled and rebuilt the home entirely on their own together before the accident.
The family is now staying with family members although the red flag was lifted when family helped secure the main beam of the house.
The family will continue to live elsewhere while they await insurance assessments and information.

I hope that they throw the book at him obviously he has issues with alcohol. I feel so sas for the homeowner. Thank god no one was injured.
