FULTON – Mayor James Rice will deliver remarks on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. on the lawn of the Fulton Municipal Building in commemoration of the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, a defining moment in American history that sparked the modern movement for LGBTQ+ rights.
Since taking office in 2024, Mayor Rice has marked this important anniversary each year to recognize the courage, resilience, and contributions of those whose fight for equality helped shape a more inclusive nation.
“The police riot at the Stonewall Inn became a turning point in American history,” said Mayor Rice. “It ignited a movement that demanded visibility, dignity, and equal rights for all people.”
Mayor Rice noted that the gathering at the Fulton Municipal Building carries special meaning, as the sign marker in front of City Hall stands as a symbol of the City’s commitment that all are welcome in Fulton.
Community members are invited to attend as the City reflects on the significance of Stonewall and reaffirms its dedication to respect, equality, and belonging for all.###
