Syracuse Woman Arrested After Shooting Two Men In Fulton This Weekend

UPDATE December 14: According to State Police, a second person has been arrested in relation to a reported shooting in Fulton   on December 4.

On December 13, 2021 State Police arrested Norman A. Newsome, age 38 from Syracuse, New York, for the following charges:

  • Murder 2nd degree, a class A-1 felony
  • Attempted Murder 2nd degree, a class “B” felony
  • Attempted Robbery 1st, a class “C” felony

Newsome was taken into custody last evening in Salt Point, NY (Dutchess County) by members from the New York State Police in Troops “K” and “F”.

He was arraigned in the city of Fulton Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail without bail.

The investigation is continuing.


FULTON – The city of Fulton Police Department, along with the New York State Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 610 Rochester Street in the city of Fulton.

At 1:11 a.m. on Saturday, December 4, officers were dispatched to the residence for a reported shooting. They discovered a 41-year-old male with a gunshot wound and a 41-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Upstate University Hospital.

Police reported that one of the men, Aaron A. Smith from 610 Rochester St., has died.

The investigation is ongoing and the shooting appears to be a targeted incident and no danger to the community.

Fulton Police Department announced the arrest of 29-year-old Britani E. Yerdon from Syracuse, New York, for the following charges:

Murder 2nd degree, a class A-1 felony
Attempted Murder 2nd degree, a class “B” felony
Attempted Robbery 1st, a class “C” felony

Yerdon was arraigned in the city of Fulton Court and was remanded to the Oswego County Jail without bail.

The investigation is continuing, and additional suspects are being sought. If anyone has any information or surveillance video regarding this investigation, they are asked to contact the Fulton Police Department at (315) 598-2007.

  1. ” the shooting appears to be a targeted incident and no danger to the community” I wish I could believe that but what is the city doing to make sure it doesn’t happen again? Is that apartment back up for rent? Just in case I’m keeping my doors locked and I’m betting whoever said “no danger to the community”, is keeping theirs locked too.
