Nathan Wienk, an art teacher at Fulton Junior High School, pleaded guilty today in Fulton City Court to a reduced charge of harassment. His guilty plea avoided a trial on charges he used his cell phone camera to take pictures of female colleagues without their knowledge.
Wienk was charged in May with attempted unlawful surveillance. Fulton Police alleged that two female staff members complained that Wienk used his camera beneath a conference room table to take a photo of one female who was wearing a skirt and that he stuck his camera between some books and aimed them at a colleague in a skirt sitting behind him at a Board of Education meeting to take her low-angle photo.
Wienk said he was not trying to take photos up the womens’ skirts. Police found no other photos on his cell phone or on his computer.
He was sentenced to 150 hours of community service. If he is not arrested again within six months, the record of his conviction will be wiped out.
Wienk was placed in an administrative position away from students after his arrest.
