FULTON, NY – Members of the Fulton Police Department are ditching policy for 30 days to strut their scruff for “No Shave November.”
Fulton Police Benevolent Association policy requires all members to be clean shaven everyday. However, an exception is made each November for the greater cause of supporting local organizations with a financial contribution at the end of the month.

With a 100 percent participation rate, every member of FPD will donate $30 to participate in No Shave November.
Members of the public are welcome to donate and the PBA will match donations up to a designated amount yet to be determined.
This year, all proceeds will be split between Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse and Griffin’s Guardians of Cicero in support of a fellow member.
Earlier this year, FPD Deputy Chief Craig Westbrook’s three-year-old daughter, Allison, was diagnosed with Leukemia.
After finding support in Golisano Children’s Hospital and Griffin’s Guardians, the PBA decided these two organizations would benefit from a financial donation in support of Allison.
FPD is hopeful to raise enough money to make a specific purchase at Golisano Children’s Hospital.
After learning that kids in the hospital often use decorated push cars, the PBA presented the idea of sponsoring a push car by purchasing and decorating it to look like a Fulton Police Department patrol vehicle.
Additionally, the money will be used for any other items the hospital and Griffin’s Guardians may deem appropriate as 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated.
“This is another avenue to give back to local organizations and charities that benefits not only us but the greater community,” Officer Victor Kaufman said.
Last year, the PBA used No Shave November to raise money to donate in honor of a member’s wife to Hospice of CNY and the Oswego County Animal Shelter.
Raising roughly $2,000 last year, the department is hopeful to match or exceed last year’s funds.
“A lot of this stuff hits home with us and I think the department really rallies in that. We try to donate to causes that impact not only us, but so many others. As police officers, we’re in the business of helping people. This is just another way to extend that,” FPD Investigator Chris Jones said.
Members of the public can visit the Fulton Police Department at 141 S. First St. if they wish to make a monetary donation of any amount.
