FULTON, NY – A Fulton man remains in custody after reportedly violating a court order of protection several times this past month.
Jason W. Clark, 32, was arrested at his home at 406 Park Street, May 31. His attempts to avoid arrest that day resulted in additional charges against him, police said.
Police said that Clark was accused of violating a duly served stay-away order of protection that requires him to stay away from four victims and their residence. The order was issued by Fulton City Court Judge Jerome Mirabito and is valid until March 13, 2009.
When police attempted to locate Clark for the warrants May 31, he was found to be at the Park Street residence, in violation of the court order.
“While attempting to locate the defendant in his home, he kicked a hole in the attic wall and climbed out onto the roof,” police said.
Police said that Clark remained on the roof for several hours until he finally surrendered after heavy rain helped police to bring him down.
Clark was charged with four counts of second-degree criminal contempt and one count of resisting arrest for the May 31 incident. The arrest warrants that were issued May 28 resulted in several charges against Clark, as well.
The first warrant alleged that Clark engaged in a telephone conversation with the victim May 14 at approximately 9 p.m. During the conversation, police said Clark threatened the victim, causing annoyance and alarm. For that incident, he was charged with second-degree aggravated harassment.
The second warrant was issued after Clark reportedly violated the stay-away court order of protection on May 23 at approximately 7:35 p.m. During a domestic dispute with another victim, police said Clark slapped one victim in the face with his right hand while the victim was holding onto a child who is less than 17 years old. For that warrant, Clark was arrested and charged with four counts of second-degree criminal contempt, one count of second-degree harassment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.
Clark remains in custody at the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail. He is slated to return to court July 2.
