OCSD Superintendent Search Process Underway

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego City School District Board of Education has initiated the search for its new superintendent, and is developing a search committee for the superintendent finalist interviews.

The superintendent application closing date is April 14, and the superintendent candidate review will commence immediately following submissions. The thought exchange closes on Sunday, April 23.

According to the BOE, the schedule will be fluid depending on the response to the search. “If the quality and size of our candidate pool is insufficient, we may extend the search. We want to make sure we get the best candidate for our district,” the BOE said in a statement.

A search committee comprised of a range of stakeholders from the community will meet with finalists and provide feedback to the Board of Education. The search committee will have 30 members total and will be divided into two interview sessions with 15 participants, a moderator, and the candidate in each.

The committee will consist of: two BOE Board members, two cabinet members, four community members, two Home & School Executive Board members, four parents of current OCSD students, two principals, six teachers, four students: OHS Student Council co-president and vice president or designees, four support staff and two union leaders. Committee members will be selected randomly. Each applicant will have a number and the BOE will use a random number generator to select from the applicants for each category. The BOE will do a final review to make sure they are drawing as broad a representation across the community as possible.

Search committee applications will be accepted until April 30, and the selection of the search committee will be May 2. To apply to serve on the committee, please visit Oswego.org or go directly to this link https://bit.ly/3mnytwR.
