OSWEGO, NY — September 5th, 2025 — The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has released this statement to provide details on its participation in a long-term, multi-agency Federal Criminal Investigation. On Thursday September 4th, 2025, Federal Law Enforcement executed a search warrant at Nutrition Bar Confections located at 12351 State Route 34, Cato NY (Cayuga County).  The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was present at the scene to assist Federal Law Enforcement with their search warrant in Cato NY.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office would like to address public concerns that arose from several traffic stops conducted in the last year. We understand that some of these stops were perceived as racially motivated or based on immigration status, however many of these stops were a necessary part of our assistance to Federal Law Enforcement, to assist in identifying individuals involved in criminal activity. The Sheriff’s Office did not release these details sooner to protect the integrity of the ongoing multi-jurisdictional case.

During some of these traffic stops, it was necessary to involve Federal Law Enforcement, which sometimes resulted in the stopped subjects or their passengers to be turned over to Federal Law Enforcement custody for further investigation.  Some of those turned over to federal custody also happened to be undocumented immigrants.

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is committed to protecting the integrity of all investigations while serving the public with transparency and accountability.

Since the execution of the search warrant in Cato, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous emails and phone calls, and read several news articles regarding possible similar law enforcement activity at Teti Bakery, located in the Town of Volney, just outside of Fulton, NY.  As a result, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has done its due diligence to determine the veracity of this news through various resources, including both Federal and Local Law Enforcement partners, and to the best of our knowledge these claims are fictitious.

Anyone with specific questions about the criminal investigation should contact: Stephanie Pagones, Public Affairs Officer at Homeland
