OSWEGO – The Oswego County Health Department will offer flu shots for children ages 6 months to 18 years old at their regularly scheduled immunization clinics beginning Oct. 9.
Clinics are held every Tuesday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic, 70 Bunner St., Oswego, and the first and third Tuesdays of every month from 9 to 11 a.m. at the H. Douglas Barclay Courthouse, Pulaski.
No appointment is needed.
Influenza, commonly known as the flu, is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses.
It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Some people, such as older adults, young children, and people with certain health conditions, are at high risk for serious flu complications.
The best way to prevent the flu is by getting vaccinated each year.
Flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months and older.
The cost of the vaccine is $37.
All patients with private insurance, Medicaid, or Medicaid managed care should bring their benefit cards with them to the immunization clinic.
No one will be turned away due to inability to pay for the shot.
