OSWEGO — The City of Oswego is excited to invite the entire community to its annual Independence Day Parade and Block Party, taking place on Sunday, July 5, 2026. This year’s celebration promises a fun-filled day of music, activities, and patriotic pride — capped off with a spectacular fireworks show over the Oswego River.
The Independence Day Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m., stepping off from historic Fort Ontario and marching through the heart of the city along Bridge Street, finishing on Turrill Street by the Oswego High School. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to line the route and cheer on local groups, performers, and community heroes.
Mayor Robert Corradino has chosen two Grand Marshal’s for this year’s parade, Joe Gosek and Ed Gosek. “Having brothers Joe and Ed Gosek serve together as our Grand Marshals is a moment of real pride for Oswego. Each of them has spent decades representing our community with excellence, Joe on the track and Ed behind the bench at the hockey rink and both have inspired generations through their dedication, leadership, and competitive spirit. As they each step into retirement, it’s fitting that we honor them side by side for the impact they’ve made on our city,” said Mayor Corradino.
This year’s festivities are brought to you in partnership with Oswego County Tourism and Planning. “We’re grateful for the strong partnership we have with Oswego County Tourism and Planning. Their support helps us deliver events that bring people together and showcase the very best of our community. Collaborations like this are what make celebrations like our Independence Day festivities possible, and we appreciate their continued commitment to Oswego”, said Mayor Corradino. Immediately following the parade, the celebration continues with the Block Party kicking off at 2:00 p.m. on West 1st Street, between West Bridge Street and West Mohawk Street. The Block Party will feature local vendors, community organizations, free activities for kids, and businesses along West 1st Street will be open.
Live music will fill the streets with John McConnell performing from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. The evening ramps up with a headlining performance by Frostbit Blue, rocking the stage from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m., leading into the grand finale — a dazzling fireworks display at 9:45 p.m., launched from the pedestrian bridge over the Oswego River.
Mayor Rob Corradino shared his excitement: “This event is one of the highlights of our summer. It brings together everything that makes Oswego special — community spirit, local pride, and family-friendly fun. We can’t wait to see everyone downtown to celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day together.”
All events are free and open to the public. Come for the parade, stay for the party, and celebrate Independence Day the Oswego way!
