OSWEGO – At the close of Thursday’s meeting, members of the Oswego County Legislature were invited to attend a non-partisan town hall event.

Suzanne Stout, representing We the People of Oswego Indivisible, said the event, scheduled for 7 p.m. on October 17, would take place in the Legislative Chamber on the fourth floor of the County Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St.

“We are a non-partisan group and we are trying to educate ourselves and the public about issues that face Oswego County,” she explained.

The plan is to have a panel of two Democrats and two Republicans respond to questions posed to them regarding current county issues. There will be an audience participation at the end of the meeting, she added.

“I know this is a really, really busy time for you. But please consider coming,” she told the legislators. “Also, if any of you are interested in coming to any of our meetings, I can put you on the agenda.”

Besides all Oswego County legislators, other area elected officials are invited to participate in the October 17 town hall meeting, she said.

Issues such as the environment, health, immigration and its effects on local jobs and family stability will be discussed among other topics, she said.

We the People of Oswego Indivisible is a group of concerned citizens attempting to educate themselves and the public, affect positive change and hold elected officials accountable, according to Stout.

The group meets every other Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Oswego Public Library and is open to all.
