An Oswego man faces charges of fleeing a police officer who tried to stop him.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department reports that David R. Burger, 22, of 80 Sixth Avenue, Oswego, appeared to be speeding on Route 104 near the Route 34 intersection in Hannibal on August 6. The department says a deputy tried to pull Burger’s car over, using the police car’s lights and siren, near the Stock Rd. intersection.
Burger did not pull over, according to police, who say that Burger then eluded them.
He was next seen driving on Route 104 in the town of Oswego, half a mile east of Hall Rd. The pursuit continued here, but ended moments later.
His Chevy Camaro lost control rounding a curve north of Tug Hill Rd., crossed the road, went through a ditch and hit a utility trailer parked on the lawn of the home at 7878 State Route 104. The Camaro then smashed into, and, police say, became embedded in a small tree near the driveway.
Burger was flown to University Hospital in Syracuse.
He was ticketed on Sunday for fleeing a police officer, reckless driving, speeding, not having a current inspection and failing to keep right. Burger has court dates in Hannibal on October 27 and Oswego Town on October 26.
