OSWEGO, NY – Investigation is continuing into the discovery marijuana plants with an estimated street value of approximately $60,000.
On Sept. 3, members of the Oswego City Police Department teamed-up with agents of The United States Customs and Border Protection to conduct aerial surveillance aboard the United States Customs and Border Protection helicopter.
The purpose of the operation was to identify and seize marijuana grow fields located in and around the Port City.
A marijuana grow filed was identified on the eastern end of the city.
The team of law enforcement personnel located and seized approximately 39 marijuana plants with an estimated street value of approximately $60,000.
Information regarding the grow fields stemmed from the Oswego City Police Department’s ongoing drug investigations.
According to Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr., “It is certainly an asset to the city of Oswego for us to have such a good working relationship with federal agencies such as the United States Border Patrol and the United States Customs and Border Protection Agencies. The resources that they provide are invaluable to us and do nothing but enhance the services to the people of the city of Oswego and surrounding areas.â€ÂÂ
No criminal charges have yet been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
