The Nine Mile Two nuclear plant shut down Thursday for the second time in a week.
Nuclear Regulatory Commission spokesman Neil Sheehan said the plant was being brought back to full power slowly and had hit about 15% of full power when operators found a leak in a 1/2 inch feedwater pump line.
They manually shut down the plant without incident, he said.
The plant was shut down last Saturday because of a different leak.
Sheehan said the second shutdown counts against the limit of three unplanned shutdowns in 7,000 hours of operation. If there’s a fourth unplanned shutdown, the NRC will increase its oversight of the plant.

I think waiting for a fourth problem to occur is too long. The oversight should already be there for these type of things and the fact finding. Why are they just finding this now? Dont they do any pipe inspections, semi-annual, annual, that would find the problem before it finds them. Just a thought.
