Oswego City Police Investigate Death On West 7th Street

UPDATE (Feb. 3 around 3 p.m.) Oswego Police released updated information on regarding the investigation:

The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office has completed a preliminary report regarding the death of Theresa Fairly. At this time, it appears as though she died of natural causes with full results pending toxicology testing.  

 A thorough investigation by the Oswego Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division and the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Investigation Unit concluded there was no evidence of foul play. 


UPDATE (Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.) Oswego Police released updated information on regarding the investigation:

On February 2 at about 1:55 p.m. the Oswego City Police Department was dispatched to a West 7th Street address in the city of Oswego regarding an unattended death. Upon arrival, officers found Theresa Fairly, age 61, deceased in her residence.

The Oswego Police Department’s criminal investigation division with assistance from the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation has completed the preliminary investigation. 

The investigation is continuing. Investigators are awaiting the results of an autopsy from the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office. 

Further information will be released after consultation with the medical examiner’s office.


OSWEGO – Today, Tuesday, February 2, at about 1:55 p.m.  the Oswego City Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the city of Oswego regarding an unattended death.

Due to the circumstances surrounding the death, information is being withheld pending further notifications and investigative steps.  

The Oswego Police Department’s criminal investigation division is being assisted by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
