Oswego Council Grants Noise Ordinance Waiver

OSWEGO, NY – At its Feb. 8 meeting, the Common Council granted a waiver to the Noise Ordinance.

Sam Cook, manager of Raging River BBQ at 7B Bridie Square, requested the exception for Fridays and Saturdays during the months of April through October from 7 p.m. to midnight.

He would like to hold some entertainment on the deck of his business during good weather.

Councilor Connie Cosemento pointed out that the council has waived the ordinance for other businesses in the past. And, there have, at times, been complaints about the noise, she added.

“I’m not against this. But, there needs to be concern; all of the councilors are going to get requests from everybody just to get the noise ordinance waived. We have it for a reason,” she said. “I think we need to be conservative here and listen very carefully to those people who have complaints.”

If there is a complaint, there needs to be “immediate compliance” or have the event closed down, she said.

If there are any complaints, the police have the power to shut down the music, Councilor Shawn Walker pointed out. missing or outdated ad config
