Oswego Police Defuse ‘Dangerous Situation’

OSWEGO, NY – At about 5:02 p.m. Monday, Oswego Police were dispatched to East Bridge Street at East Fifth Street in regard to a menacing complaint.

The complainant reported that an adult female had displayed a knife and was acting in a threatening manner.

The woman had reportedly retreated and barricaded herself inside her apartment.

Upon arrival, officers attempted contact her.

Although she wouldn’t communicate with officers, it was obvious to police that she was still inside.

Officers continued their attempts to communicate with the female and at about 7:25 p.m. police were able to establish communication.

The subject was then taken into custody without any further incident.

No criminal charges have been filed.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the residents of the area for their patience during the incident,” said Police Chief Mike Dehm. “I would also like to acknowledge the excellent job of the officers who were on scene in using their training and experience to bring this dangerous situation to a successful conclusion.”
