Oswego School Board Accepts Superintendent’s Resignation

OSWEGO, NY – The Board of Education of the Oswego City School District has received, and is accepting, the written resignation of Superintendent Benjamin Halsey, according to Board President Kathleen Allen.

Halsey, who unofficially informed the board last month of his intentions, is planning to accept employment as superintendent at another school district in New York State.

Family issues had prevented him from securing residence within the Oswego district, as his contract requires, he explained.

Under the terms of an agreement with the board, Halsey’s last day of work was Friday, October 23.

He is on leave of absence, with pay and benefits, through Friday, November 13.

The board will meet in the coming weeks to discuss and implement plans for transition for new district-wide leadership, Allen said today (Nov. 4).

“The board thanks Mr. Halsey for his efforts and wishes him success in his new position,” she added.

Halsey will be going to the Pioneer School District (NY). missing or outdated ad config

  1. “Leave of absence, with pay and benefits, through Friday, November 13.”

What is wrong with public education? And what is wrong with the elected board members who allow this nonsense?

The board thanks Mr. Halsey for his efforts in what? The 14% tax increase he left Oswego with during his two years here?
