Oswego Soldier Dies in Afghanistan

Here’s the full text of a news release issued today by the Department of Defense:

“The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Spc. Kyle R. Rookey, 23, of Oswego, N.Y., died Sept. 2, in Jalalabad, Afghanistan from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo.”

We have no other information as yet.

  2. Rest in peace dear Soldier. As I mentioned before, I pray God will bless and watch over your family. Thank you for going overseas to protect your fellow Americans. You are an American Hero. May God bless and be a shield unto our men and may he free and bring home our MIA. Someday we will all be together, the sun will shine brightly…we will be in a better place.
