OSWEGO, NY – Wednesday’s rainstorm dumped 2.72 inches on the area causing flooding in some places. It also included 0.1-inch of sloppy wet snow; other areas south and east of the Port City saw several more inches of snow.
It actually began around 10 to 11 p.m. Tuesday (November 30), according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.
“We got some sprinkles between 4:30 p.m. and midnight that amounted to 0.65-inch. Also, our temperature was at 55 degrees at midnight and went up to 58 degrees a bit after that,” he said.
At around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, the winds began to shift and the temperature slipped to 45 degrees. By 7:30 a.m., it was down to 40 degrees.
Wet snow started to fall around noon; it changed to all rain around 2 p.m. and continued throughout the afternoon, Gregway said.
The precipitation ended around 4:30 p.m.
“We received 2.52 inches of precipitation during the heavy rains on Wednesday and 2.72 inches for the entire storm period, including 0.1-inch of snow,” Gregway said.
Fulton received 1.61 inches of rain on Wednesday with an inch of snow falling as well.
