OSWEGO – May 23, 2024, The Richard S. Shineman Foundation is excited to announce a $100,000 grant to the Oswego Renaissance Association (ORA), a fiscally sponsored project of Invest CNY, dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods in the City of Oswego. This grant highlights the Foundation’s commitment to community development and improving the quality of life for Oswego residents.

The Oswego Renaissance Association, established in 2013, focuses on rejuvenating and sustaining vibrant, economically stable neighborhoods. ORA empowers residents to participate in their community’s transformation through various innovative programs.

The Shineman Foundation grant will enhance ORA’s efforts in several areas:

Home Improvement Matching Grants: The Renaissance Block Challenge Grant offers matching grants to homeowners for exterior improvements. This initiative not only beautifies the neighborhoods but also increases property values and encourages further investment by residents.

Community Building Initiatives: Neighborhood Pride Grants support activities designed to foster neighborly connections and collective action, such as block parties, beautification events, and streetscape improvements.

Expansion of Target Areas: The funds will allow ORA to extend its reach to new neighborhoods.

Chena Tucker, Executive Director of the Shineman Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the grant’s potential impact: “We are thrilled to support the Oswego Renaissance Association with this grant. Their dedication to beautifying the city of Oswego has been truly transformative. The improvements made through their efforts not only enhance the visual appeal of our community but also foster a sense of pride and unity among residents. We look forward to seeing the continued positive momentum and impact this grant will bring.”

Paul Stewart, Executive Director of the Oswego Renaissance Association, highlighted the significance of the grant: “We are now branching into new neighborhoods, partnering with neighbors to revitalize their blocks. We are expecting our work to catalyze positive growth as we are expanding ever outwards from our original targeted blocks. It is very inspiring to see the changes.
