ALBANY, NY — Governor David A. Paterson today announced that the Honorable David J. Roman was confirmed by the New York State Senate on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Governor Paterson nominated Judge Roman last month to fill an interim vacancy in Oswego County Court.
Under the New York State Constitution, the Governor may nominate individuals to fill vacancies on the County Court until those vacancies can be filled at the next general election. Since the Governor’s nomination has been confirmed by the Senate, he will serve until December 31, 2010.
David J. Roman served as Oswego County Family Court Judge for 20 years and during several of those years he served as an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court, presiding over the Integrated Domestic Violence Court in Oswego County. He is a Past President of the New York State Family Court Judges’ Association which, in 2009, named him Family Court Judge of the Year. Judge Roman has served for over 13 years on the New York State Advisory Committee on Judicial Ethics, and has been President of the Oswego County Bar Association and the Oswego YMCA Board of Directors. He received his Bachelor of Science from Cornell University in 1973 and earned a J.D. from Albany Law School in 1976.
The annual salary for the nomination to the County Court in Oswego County is $119,800.
