OSWEGO, NY – On May 1, friends and relatives of the late William (Biff) Feeney will be gathering at The American Foundry in Oswego to celebrate his life and to raise funds to help defer the enormous medical expenses Billy incurred over the last few years.
The event will start at noon and will go to 7 p.m.
A legend of the local music scene, Billy passed away on March 13 after many years of dealing with a multitude of health issues including rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes.
Throughout all the years of his struggles, no matter what he happened to be going through at the time, visitors would always find him with a smile and ready to share a laugh.
The entire music community will miss this man.
Keyboards were his instruments but he was best known for his outstanding vocal abilities.
Billy played with many popular Central New York groups over the course of his musical career including Dunes and the Del-Tunes, The Swivel Rockers, The Melons, Mr. Cucumber, The Barry James Band, Live Lobsters, Manic Depression, Shadowfax and Mind’s Eye.
He also lent his voice on a number of winning Harborfest songs and was the original keyboardist and singer on the tune Lake Ontario Twilight (one of Frostbit Blue’s most popular songs).
The tribute/benefit will start at noon with many of Billy’s friends (who also happen to be some of the area’s finest musicians) performing all day long and telling some wonderful stories.
Among the bands and people donating their time are Mark Warner & Brian Moshier, Better Than Bowling (Tom Navagh, Tom Marr, Paul Powers, Sharon Allen & Dave Clement), The Cortini Brothers (Joe and Kimo Cortini, Tom Ciappa, Ken Satterfield & Steve Watson), Vitamin X (Ron Richards, Tim Stone & the Valcher), 2 Kool 4 Skool (John Luber, Ray Furniss, Dan Rubino, Matt Tarbell, & Dan Morrison), and Frostbit Blue (John Bletch, Nick Gravelding, Dave Hawthorn, Tom McCaffrey, Bill Barry & Benny Fiacco).
Special guests include Ron Castaldo and Terry LeRoi.
There is a minimum donation of $5 at the door.
Chicken dinners will also be available for $10.
The American Foundry is located at 246 W. Seneca St., behind the Fajita Grill.
Anyone interested in purchasing a dinner is encouraged to buy a dinner ticket before April 25 so an appropriate number of chickens can be purchased.
