Two Oswego County Women Facing Drug Possession, Child Endangerment Charges

On Wednesday (June 29), at approximately 10:45 a.m., State Police stopped a vehicle on West Street in the city of Syracuse that was operating with three small children in the backseat without proper child safety restraints.

Investigation at the scene revealed the operator, Sherita M. Dana, 33, from 830 County Route 21, Hannibal, and front seat passenger Sabrina C. Johnson, 30, from 12 Barker Drive, Fulton, were allegedly in possession of heroin, Suboxone without a valid prescription, marijuana, and hypodermic needles.

Dana was also operating with a suspended license, police said.

Troopers also discovered that Johnson was babysitting the two five-year-old children and one seven-year-old child in the rear seat who were not restrained in the proper car seats or booster seats.

The children’s legal guardian responded to the scene and took custody of the children.

Dana and Johnson were taken into custody and charged with the following:

Dana: three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd degree, all misdemeanors, and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations

Johnson: three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th degree, both misdemeanors, and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation.

Both women were lodged at the Onondaga County Justice Center pending an arraignment on June 30.
