Betty Phillips Mirabito, 80, of Fulton, died Saturday at Oswego Hospital. A native of Springfield, MO, she had resided in Los Angeles, CA six years before moving to Fulton in 1947. Betty, with her husband Joseph, co-owned and operated Mirabito Brothers Grocery Store in Fulton for 11 years. She was a hairdresser owning Elizabeth “J†Coiffures in Fulton from 1969 to 1975. Betty, Joe and their son, Steven Phillips were co-owners of Phillips Hair Styling Institute in Syracuse from 1981 to 2005. She also had worked at Nestle Company from 1947 to 1969. Betty was a communicant of The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Fulton where she served as Eucharistic Minister, was on the landscaping committee and member of the Golden Agers.
She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Erwin G. Phillips, who died in 1974. Betty, a loving wife, mother and grandmother is survived by her husband of 32 years, Joseph Mirabito of Fulton; her sons, Michael and Brenda Phillips of Fulton and Steven Phillips and partner Paul Stewart of Oswego; grandchildren, Chad Phillips of Orlando, FL and Danielle and Don Wester of Fayetteville. Surviving also are several nieces and nephews.
Prayer services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Church of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
