John Peter Goettel

POENIX, NY – John Peter Goettel, 45,lifelong resident of Phoenix, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at home. He was born in Syracuse on March 15, 1979 to Robert J. and Anna M. (Krzywda) Goettel.

To his family he was known as “Frog”, to his schoolmates he was “Goat”.

Frog loved his animals, leaving his cats Mary and Larry behind. His love for his animals knew no limits. He enjoyed writing, collecting and helping his parents in their elder years.

John is survived by his parents, Bob and Anna Goettel and his sister, Valerie (David Hoosock) Goettel.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM- 5:00 PM. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 5:00 PM. Please consider a donation to the Oswego County SPCA or the Phoenix Fire Department in John’s honor.
