OSWEGO, NY – Edward L. Piersall, 68, of Oswego passed away on Monday Jan. 10, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.
Born in Scriba, he was a son of the late Bradford and Winifred (Armstrong) Piersall and had attended Oswego schools.
He was employed with Hammermill for more than 35 years.
Ed was an avid race fan and was well known for selling programs at the Oswego Speedway for 45 years.
He enjoyed attending auctions and yard sales.
Surviving are his two daughters, Rebecca (Kevin) Costello of Memphis Tenn. And Vickie Burnswick of Geneva; two sisters, Emma (Thomas) Connolly and Dorothy (Harold) Guilds both of Oswego; one brother, Albert (Alma) Piersall of Scriba; and two grandsons, John and Dakota Burnswick.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Piersall, on March 20, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
A private spring burial will be in Peck’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Ed will defineately be missed by all us, what a great guy, he used to hang around Carson’s News and I never saw him mad at anyone. I will miss him at the front gate with a program in hand. I know him and SYE Pete Trenca will always be with us at the track.

Sorry for your loss. Ed was a great person. Will miss his big smile and talks at the speedway. Always told me how he missed his wife. Well Ed you are finally by her side once again, RIP.
I am so sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. I will miss him saying “Hello Mrs. Furlong” every time I enter the track. He was a great guy and always smiling. He will be greatly missed.

Ed was the best neighbor anyone could have. He was a Grandpa to my boys and they miss him so much already. He was a great man and a wonderful friend. He is surely going to be missed. The Oswego Speedway will never be the same they lost a true icon.
I remember Ed from my Campus School days and years of seeing him at the speedway. He can best be described as ” A Really Good Guy” He will be missed by many.
