OSWEGO, NY – Elsie Simons, a lifelong resident of Oswego, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home in Cicero on Wednesday May 14, 2014, at the age of 93.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Ester (McLaughlin) Grulich.
She was a graduate of Oswego High School and a member of the St. John’s Parish.
She was employed by Stone’s Candy Shop for years, and later worked at Campbell’s and Argersinger’s.
She loved her family and entertaining them, more than anything.
“Nanny” welcomed family and their friends, and no one ever left hungry!
Surviving are her daughter, Jill Simons-Roof of Cicero; two sons, Dennis “Skip” (Mary Lou) Simons of Ormond Beach Fla. and David “Kim” Simons of Oswego; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Simons; a daughter, Patricia Muldoon; a son, Richard “Biff” Simons; and her sister, Nan Riley.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
