Loretta Karecki, 85

OSWEGO, NY – Loretta Karecki, 85, a lifelong resident of Oswego, currently residing at St. Francis Commons, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 3, 2016, at Oswego Hospital with family by her side.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Julia (Zimney) Kosiewicz.

Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Karecki, in 1985; and her brothers, Edward and William Kosiewicz.

She was the owner of Loretta’s Beauty Salon on Murray Street and was the hairdresser at St. Luke’s Health Services for 25 years.

She was a member of the PLAV.

Her greatest joy was watching her grandson, Steven, play basketball and her son-in-law, Randy, racing  at the Oswego Speedway.

Surviving are her daughter, Debbie (Randy) Ritskes of Oswego; a son, Joseph Karecki of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a grandson, Steven Kunelius (Ritskes); a niece, Michele (Pascale Alard) Kosiewicz of Louisville, Kentucky; and  several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be on Friday, September 9, at the Dowdle Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Entombment immediately following the service will be in All Saints’ Mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery. missing or outdated ad config

  1. This beautiful woman, inside and out, has gone on to bigger and greater things. Those who grieve and miss her have many wonderful memories that can’t be taken away from them ever. Our sympathies to the entire family.
