OSWEGO, NY – Victoria (Gram) Czerow, 88, of Oswego passed away at Oswego Hospital on Tuesday May 12, 2015, after a brief illness.
Mrs. Czerow passed peacefully surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
Born in White Plains, NY, to the late Samuel and Theresa (Gualtire) Viscome, she spent her early years in Fulton, NY, until her marriage to Steven J. Czerow in 1953, when she moved to Oswego.
Mrs. Czerow was employed at Dilts Machinery of Fulton, Alma Foundation of Oswego and was happiest and best known, respected and loved for more than 34 years in her work as a monitor in the cafeteria of Oswego Middle School where she was affectionately known by all as “Gram.”
The generosity, understanding, and compassion she gave to the students and faculty of the school will long be remembered.
Mrs. Czerow was predeceased by her husband, Steve, in 1993; her son, Steven, in 2003; and her brothers, Tony Viscome, Alphonso Viscome and Alfred Viscome.
She is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Earl Burdick) Driskell, Patricia (Tom) Murray and Pam (Ethan) Whiting, all of Oswego; siblings, Theresa Raponi of Fulton and Robert (Alice) Viscome of Hannibal, NY; grandchildren, Abby Murray (Sean Mackenzie) Murray, Shane (Becca) Murray, Ben Driskell, Geoffrey Whiting, Michael Ecke; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bertha Czerow, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Czerow; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She and her famous spaghetti, meatballs, and chocolate cake will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Stephen the King Church, 138 Niagara St., Oswego.
Friends may call on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.
