FULTON, NY – John W. Dix, 83, of Volney, passed away peacefully Friday March 27, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family.
John had been a lifelong resident of the Fulton – Oswego areas.
John had been a fuel truck driver for many years.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed camping.
He and his late wife were members of the Fulton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and together, enjoyed participating in their many events.
John was predeceased by his wife, the former Lena Mae Reynolds; and children, Brenda, Joel and Lincoln.
John will be greatly missed and forever loved by his children, Donna Abbott, John Dix, Georganna Woodworth and Christopher Vaughn; siblings, Edith Ives and Marjorie Calkins; 24 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
A memorial service will be Saturday 11 a.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Fulton Congregation, County Route 85, Fulton.
Burial in the spring will be at Peck’s Cemetery in Scriba.

I knew John and Lena when they worked for my husband Roy Smith at the U Do It L’mat and car wash in the 70’s and 80’s. They both were such good people and could be trusted to always do a good job. My prayers go to the rest of the family and I would love an email from any of the kids that remember me.

I ran across this obituary while taking my lunch break. I live in Conyers, Georgia so I never had the pleasure of meeting Brother Dix. After reading the article, I wanted to send my condolences to the family. Having lost my father recently, I understand how much you miss him. I look forward to seeing my father again in the new world (Rev 21:3,4). Hopefully we will all have a chance to meet then. Maybe Brother Dix can help me to have an appreciation for camping.
