Robert J. Lyman, 79, of Fulton died Wednesday.

He was born in Cortland and lived in Fulton for the past 38 years. Robert graduated from Cortland High School, Morrisville College and Cornell University. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1962. Robert was a Engineering Technical Writer for Chrysler Missile Division and General Electric Company where he retired in 1993.

He was the Budget Officer for the Town of Granby from 1972 until 1999 and 2008 to the present. Robert had a private pilot’s license for 18 years and was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Local Chapter 486 where he was the Past President and Secretary. He also was a member of the Northeast Stinson Flying Club and the Classic Chevy Club.

Robert is predeceased by his parents, S. Jackson and Helen French Lyman.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. Lyman; two daughters, Kristina L. Lyman of Fulton and Kathryn G. Johnston of Camillus.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday with services to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Private burial will be at a later date in Cortland Rural Cemetery.
