FULTON, NY – Samuel A. “Sam” Vescio, 91, of Fulton, passed away Thursday October 5, 2017, after a long illness.

Born in Fulton to the late Angelo and Rosina Crai Vescio, Sam was a lifelong resident of Fulton.

He served as First Sargent in the Army during the Korean War, returning home to work for Sealright, serving as Second Ward alderman for the city of Fulton, then retiring as superintendent of the city of Fulton Water Works.

In his spare time, Sam enjoyed playing golf, softball and cooking, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.

Samuel was a great man of faith.

He was predeceased by his wife, Paula, April 25, 1986; brothers, Carmen, Frank, Anthony, Peter, Ace and Phillip; sisters, Rose and Angelina; and a great-grandson, Ethan Wood.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children, Robert (De) Vescio, Rosemary (Michael) Pollard, Cynthia (Joseph) Wood and Samuel (Cathleen) Vescio; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Joseph Vescio, Eleanor McGraw and June Johnston.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets, Fulton.

Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.

  1. Grandpa Sam will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and genuine man who loved his family. He was so much fun to be around and I am remembering all the fun we had together at weddings and other family times. Rest In Peace

  2. Sam was a very nice, funny man- his sister, Angelina, was my Aunt. Attended family gatherings and always enjoyed listening to Samm’s stories, you will be missed

  3. So sorry to learn of this. Sam was a true gentleman and a great friend of the Fulton PD during my time there. A real loss for his family and the city. RIP Sam.

  4. Work will prevent me from attending the wake. My heartfelt condolences. He was a great person and well resected by all who knew him. He will be missed.

  5. Mr. Vescio was always so kind and generous to me, like a second father. Will always treasure those memories.

  6. What a wonderful man. Just remember him growing up (as I went to school with Rosemary and Cindy). Good man, good family man and a man of faith. My sincere condolences to all of his family.

  7. What more can you say about a guy that brought a smile to everyone’s face. I am so sorry I missed the wake, didn’t know but I would have certainly attended.

    RIP, you lived a great shameless life for yourself and others.
