Virginia J. Auyer, 94

FULTON, NY – Virginia J. Auyer, 94, formerly of Phoenix, NY, passed away on Thursday June 29, 2017, in Woodford, Va.

A native of Binghamton, she was a life resident of the Phoenix-Fulton area.

Mrs. Auyer retired in 1985 as a micrographics technician at Morris-Gould Pumps in Baldwinsville after 30 years.

She was a licensed practical nurse at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton, the V.A. Hospital and Onondaga County Hospital in Syracuse for many years.

Mrs. Auyer was a member of the Pennellville United Methodist Church where she had served as representative of the church to the Southern Oswego County Council of Churches.

She was a member of the Starlite Circle and secretary of the Sunshine Circle.

Mrs. Auyer was also treasurer and volunteer of the Phoenix Area Food Pantry, member of R.S.V.P., volunteer with Social Storm and a volunteer for the Pride of Phoenix.

She was predeceased by her husband, LaVerne “Bucky” Auyer; sons, Richard Auyer and Owen Bradway; as well as daughters-in-law, Carolyn Auyer and Melody Bradway.

Surviving are: two daughters, Emma (Robert) Tetrault of Virginia and Verna (Jack) Zahn of Michigan; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with services to immediately follow.

Burial will be at New Haven Cemetery in New Haven.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pennellville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 389 County Route 54, Pennellville, 13132 or to the Phoenix Area Food Pantry, 43 Bridge St., Phoenix, 13135 in Mrs. Auyer’s memory.

  2. What a great lady! She may not have been from Phoenix, but she contributed so much in so many ways, making this community and its children a central focus of her life. She was a truly outstanding, competent and giving person. Rest in Peace Virginia.
