Charles Daniel Oleyourryk

OSWEGO – With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Charles Daniel Oleyourryk, 66, on May 26, 2026.  He passed away at home after a 6-year battle with appendiceal cancer.

Chuck was born and raised in Oswego, NY, to the late Joseph James and Elsie Mae (DeHollander) Oleyourryk Sr.  He started working at NEPTCO Energy Tank Farm, then worked at Alcan/Novelis, where he retired after 36 years.

Chuck was well known for his sense of humor and wit and was a master storyteller. You could find him singing and playing his guitar on hockey and softball road trips with his kids.

He was an avid sports fan, following the Boston Bruins, the NY Giants, and all racing.  On Saturday nights, he would be at the Oswego Speedway, cheering on Eddie B.  He loved to hunt and fish and looked forward to his annual hunting trip to Kansas, and stopping in Ohio to visit friends.  Chuck and Judy enjoyed long motorcycle rides together on his Harley and stopping for ice cream along the way.

Chuck carried himself with remarkable strength and a lifelong devotion to his family, not letting anyone break the bond of the family circle. His children, Ryan and Emily, always made him proud, along with his granddaughters, Mackenzie and Brenna.

Chuck is predeceased by his brother Joseph J. Oleyourryk Jr., and several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife Judy (Thompson) Oleyourryk; children Ryan (Corley) Oleyourryk and Emily (Ryan) Doherty; grandchildren Mackenzie and Brenna Oleyourryk; brothers John (Louise) Oleyourryk & William (Nancy) Oleyourryk, both of Oswego; Aunt Patricia (Oleyourryk) Bocko of Oswego,  Uncle Jack Oleyourryk of Latham, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per Chuck’s wishes, there will be no services held.  The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. As Grandma Barb said, “To those who loved and cared for me, have a wonderful life.  The rest of you can go to hell.”  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Chuck’s name to RRH Lipson Cancer Institute Fund at https://www.rochesterregional.org/giving/make-a-gift or CNY Hospice at https://www.hospicecny.org/donate. Judy is going to walk in the 20th Anniversary Appendix Cancer Global Walk in June, if you would like to donate or walk in memory of Chuck, here is the link; https://secure.acpmp.org/fundraiser/7324199.  Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
