Frances J. ‘Nana’ Comerford, 91

OSWEGO, NY – Frances J. “Nana” Comerford, 91 of Oswego passed away peacefully Saturday morning Jan. 14, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

She was born in Oswego and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Anna M. Moran Malott.

She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Comerford Jr.

Mrs. Comerford had been employed in the lunch program at Kingsford Park School and then in the Purchasing Department at SUNY Oswego for 20 years until her retirement.

During World War II she was employed at Bell Aircraft in Niagara Falls, NY, building aircraft to help support the war effort.

She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a former communicant of St. John’s Church.

Mrs. Comerford enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking great meals for her family.

She loved sitting on her side porch with family and friends.

She is survived by three daughters, Anne Corbett of Huntington Beach, California, Lynn Comerford of Fulton and Kathleen “Casey” (George) Walpole of Oswego; two sons, Joseph (Mary) Comerford and Michael Comerford both of Oswego; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. James (Kathleen) Comerford of Oswego; 18 grandchildren, Carrie Klein, Crista Hill, Jamie Corbett, Rene’ Royster, Amy Callen, AJ Lombardo, Andrew Lombardo, Angela Lombardo, Katie Stone, Joe Comerford, Alyson Comerford, Shane Comerford, Ian Comerford, Melissa Kalpewicz, Kelcey Comerford, Mackenzie Verburg, Caitlin Carroll and Colin Comerford; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Comerford was predeceased by her son, James P. Comerford; her grandson, Travis Comerford; two sisters, Patricia Minehan and Margie Heagerty; and two brothers, Joe Malott and Sam Malott.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30 a.m. from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church.

Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

    My sincerest sympathy on the loss of a wonderful woman. She will be missed greatly, but what wonderful memories there are.
