Frank F. Motyka, 81

OSWEGO, NY – Frank F. Motyka, 81, a resident of Brooklyn and a former resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday June 21, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Mr. Motyka was born in Oswego, the son of the late John and Mary Jean Dewey Motyka.

He was the husband of the late Joan Tollefsen Motyka, who died in 1983.

He had been employed for 60 years as an ironworker and was a member of Ironworkers Local 40 in New York City and Local 60 in Syracuse.

He was a proud member of the “Raising Gang.”

Mr. Motyka worked on various projects throughout the northeast.

He retired at the age of 80.

Mr. Motyka served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Mr. Motyka is survived by two daughters, Susan Motyka and Diane (Robert) Godden both of Oswego; six sons, Neil Motyka of Florida, Kenneth F. ( Susan Garofalo) of East Syracuse, Dennis Motyka of Hannibal, James (Jamie Bortel) Motyka of Scriba, Glenn Motyka of Sterling and Matthew (Sandy) Motyka of North Rose; one brother, John “Sonny” Motyka of Sterling; one sister, Sally Broadwell of Scriba; his girlfriend, Frances Gushae of Brooklyn; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased two bothers, Edward Motyka and Peter Motyka.

Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Paul’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
