George A. Sweeting Sr., 72

OSWEGO, NY – George A. Sweeting Sr., 72, a resident of New Haven, passed away Tuesday May 6, 2014, at Morningstar Care Center, surrounded by his loving children.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late William and Nona (Sheridan) Sweeting.

George worked as a laborer for local #214, working for various construction companies throughout the state.

He was an animal lover.

He enjoyed working and was known for his strength and hard work ethics.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

George’s Christmas decorations on his family’s homestead on Bronson and Ontario streets were a yearly attraction.

Kids in the Schuyler Street neighborhood will always remember him as “Mad Dog.”

Surviving are his children, Lori (Scott) Ford, Kelly Burridge, Wendy (Jack) Smegelsky, George Sweeting Jr., Patty Sweeting and William Sweeting; step-children, Carol (Mike) Peters and step-grandson, Rusty, and David Desgrosiellier and step-grandchildren, Addison, Robert and Nicholas; two brothers, Gerald and Robert Sweeting; one sister, Lillian Squires; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Jenna and Kyle Burridge, George III, Ty, Steven, Katherine and Elizabeth Sweeting, Conner, Brayden and Molly Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Greyson Burridge and Maylin Sweeting; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Katherine (Parkhurst) Sweeting; his first wife, Patricia (Barbeau) Sweeting, three brothers, William, Terry and Ronald Sweeting; and two sisters, Virgina “Sis” Dumas and Joan Cooper.

There will be no services, upon George’s request.
