Gladys A. Miner Bowersox, 92

PHOENIX, NY – Gladys A. Miner Bowersox, 92, of Palermo, passed away at her daughter’s home on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, with her family by her side.

She was born to her late parents, Pearl (Guernsey) and Merle Youngs, on February 15, 1920.

She was graduate of high school and a fine homemaker.

Gladys was a member of T.O.P.S., a square dancing enthusiast with the Forty Niners, as well as Westner Swingers; PET, Phoenix Emergency Team, citizens band operator with the
handle, “Yankee Lady.”

She was predeceased by her first husband of 39 years, John C.Miner, in 1977; and her second husband of 24 years, Elton I. Bowersox, in 2006; two sisters, Marion Smelski and Bernice Benesheck; two step-children, Daniel and Elton Jr. Bowersox.

Surviving are her children, Marty (James) Bates of Baldwinsville, Jackie Tracy (John Stoltz), of Fulton and John E. (Ellie) Miner of Phoenix, NY; her step-children, Thomas, Timothy, Rodney, Mark, Judy, Becky, Connie and Shirley; her 12 grandchildren; several
great-grand and many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be on Thursday  from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix.

Graveside service will be in the Spring in Roosevelt Cemetery, Schroeppel with the Rev. Diane Bradshaw officiating.

  1. John and Ellie, I am so very sorry for your loos. Gladys was a wonderful lady whom I cared deeply for. I may have known her only as a nurse but but, felt like I was family at times. Shes now an Angle looking down on us along with your dad John. God Bless you all. I miss you dearly. Stay strong.
