Jeanette D. Fitzsimmons, 87

OSWEGO, NY – Jeanette D. Fitzsimmons, 87, a resident of Southwest Ninth Street, Oswego, passed away Friday November 29, 2013, at her home.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Julian and Anne (Talamo) DiMiero.

She worked at SUNY Oswego as a secretary for 25 years, retiring in 1989.

Jeanette enjoyed golf, traveling, knitting, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her daughter, Ann Fitzsimmons of Oswego; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Fitzsimmons; three brothers, Nicholas, Anthony and Julian DiMiero; and a sister, Angeline DiMiero Miller.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Oswego Hospital and also the Friends of Oswego County Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Donations can be made to the charity of one’s choice.

  1. Ann: Sorry to hear about your mother’s passing. I worked with her the summer she was starting to retire at as Vo Tech secretary (got me a lot more hours as she was able to take time off finally!). She introduced me to Paul Harvey, and we’d have some pretty good laughs (if quiet ones), in the office with the things he said. I remember them with fondness.

    I only met your once at Personnel, but wanted to offer my condolences. As an only, it’s harder still to lose a mom. Hopefully, you have a lot of good memories (and laughs) to get you through the next few months.
