OSWEGO, NY – Julian Thomas Ross, 10, came into our lives on May 15, 2005, and was called home on August 8, 2015.
He was an incredible person who cared more about others and less about himself.
Julian loved everyone from the homeless to the famous. He saw through things … Julian saw you.
Most will comment and remember him because of his cancer.
Instead, Julian would have wanted you to get involved so another child doesn’t have to suffer.
Many will cry because of his suffering, but Julian would tell you of his blessings and joys.
Julian taught us more than we could ever have taught him … Live life, love everyone, help others.
That was Julian’s World.
If we all lived the way he did, what a wonderful world this would be.
He is survived by his parents, Steven Ross and Kristi Thompson; two brothers, Alexander Thompson and Brayden Ross; paternal grandparents Delbert Ross and Rosemary Ross; maternal grandparents Paula and Donald Thompson; maternal great-grandmother Evelyn Bresnahan; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Church, Oswego.
Calling hours will be held 2-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Julian, while you were loaned to us for a short time you will inspire us for a lifetime. I prayed for you while you were here; please pray for us from your heavenly home.

Julian, I never got to know you personally, but asked your Mom at one of the fund raisers how you were doing. Just looking in those precious eyes when you family posted updates made me realize that you were a special young man. I prayed often for your healing and for a miracle. God finally decided it was His will for you to come home to Him.I bought one of the golden angel pins and I’m going to leave it on my dresser and when I walk by I will think of you and pray for your family. Life was so very short for you, Julian, but within those years you taught many people about how to smile when everything was wrong. The Ross Family – I have been following Julian’s story on facebook for a long time and wanted to send my condolences. As a cancer survivor, I prayed for your sweet boy everyday. Fly high Julian, you are free from that monster buddy. I pray that God wraps his arms around you and your family cause they miss you so very much. I will always think of you and you infectious smile.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Julian in person. I found out about Julian through our McHenry Bingo that we have on Fridays in Woodstock , IL . We donate every Friday to help you with expenses for the family. In return we received weekly updates on Julian’s care. Julian was such a fighter he brought courage to so many people. He was a hero !! I’m very grateful for Maryanne to have found your family. It just warmed our hearts to know that she would FaceTime Julian everyday till the end. I’m also glad that you referred another child battleling cancer.. I’m not sure which foundation that Maryanne used it could of been :Wings of an Angel, McHenry Bingo or her sons foundation which is Patsy Ricciardi Carcinoma Memorial Foundation. It was such a pleasure getting to know your family !! Thank you for allowing us in your lives !! Julian will always be in my heart. Hoping you find peace through this difficult time .

I know you have seen the face of God and He welcomed you with open arms. My prayer is that God will grant peace and comfort to your family.

He was a sweet little boy who had nothing but love in his heart and a smile on his face for the whole world to see. He will forever be remembered in our hearts. To julians family I hope that everyday gets a little easier. Julian has taught us all many things and the most important is to fight no matter what happens to any of us. I know it will not be easy to lay julians body to rest but know as parents that you did everything that Julian would have wanted you to do and you made his dreams come true and braydens.
