OSWEGO, NY – Lawrence J. McRae Sr., 78 of Oswego, passed away Friday July 31, 2015, at St. Luke Health Service, Inc.
He was born in Syracuse and was the son of the late Homer and Kathleen Higgins McRae.
Mr. McRae was the husband of Bonnie Nearbin McRae, who died November 11, 2014.
He had been employed for 44 years as a papermaker with the Marathon Company and later with Hammermill International.
Mr. McRae was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
He is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Andy) Brashier of Tennessee and Theresa (Neil) Cliff of Oswego; two stepdaughters, Alice (Mike Szymamski) VanBuren and Kellie (Carolyn Kelly) Thompson both of Oswego; two sons, Lawrence J. (Pam) McRae Jr. of Scriba and Leonard Preeman of Oswego; one stepson, Joseph (Mandy McQuinness) Thompson of Oswego; one sister, Evelyn McRae of Pulaski, 12 grandchildren including two special granddaughters Ashley (Jason) Goodwin and Jaime Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. McRae was predeceased by one son, Mark McRae; four brothers, William McRae, Adelbert McRae, Robert McRae and James McRae; and two sisters Betty Lou Brown and Patricia Hammond.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 5-7 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Wednesday at 11 a.m.
