OSWEGO, NY – Lawrence M. “Larry” Waters, 75, a resident of West Seventh Street, Oswego, passed away Sunday April 13, 2014, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse.
Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late John and Alice (Cook) Waters.
He was in the Marine Corps Reserves for seven years before serving in the US Army.
Larry worked as a boilermaker with his father on the St. Lawrence Project. He then worked at Alcan for more than 20 years.
He enjoyed his trips on the bingo bus and golfing.
He loved to garden and landscape.
He also enjoyed camping and vacationing down south and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Oswego Elks and the American Legion Post 268.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Deborah (Connolly) Waters; two daughters, Heather (Sean) Lynch of Colorado and Venus Waters of Oswego; four brothers, Ronald (Monica) Waters, George (Rosetta) Waters, Frederick Waters and Alan Waters, all of Oswego; four sisters, Darol Bowerson of Arlington, Texas, Mary Ellen (George) Matott, of College Station, Texas, Paula (Teddy) LaBouef, of Rome and Natalie Waters of Oswego; his two granddaughters, Vienna Rain Webster and Grace Alice-Maurine Lynch; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Waters, David Waters and Britt Waters; and a sister, Sheila Demm.
Calling hours will be held 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Family and friends will then gather at the American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Church or the Charity of one’s choice.

Deb, I just read about Larry’s passing. I am so sorry I did not know before this. Larry will definitely be missed…he was a special guy and I loved talking “bingo lingo” with him. He made me laugh every time I saw him — usually in the grocery store…..or bingo! I am very sad about his passing and offer you and the girls my condolences. He was a great guy. RIP Larry.
